BE A COACH

St Mary’s Richmond AC is run by volunteers – former athletes and parents of athletes who give up their time to ensure that there is a club available for children and adults in the Twickenham area. If you want to get involved then please contact us HERE to see how you can join in.

Assistant coaches / Squad helpers

Anyone with an interest can get involved and we are always looking for parents and ex-athletes to join us. Initially we would invite you to come along on Tuesday evenings at 6.00pm to help with our younger athletes and newcomers in the Foundation squad. Here you can work alongside experienced coaches to help you learn all the events and eventually take small groups of athletes yourself.

We encourage and support coaches who join the foundation group to take their UK Athletics Level 1 coaching course.

Foundation Squad – Coaches

We are looking for experienced coaches to join our Foundation squad aswell as develop event squads with our lead coaches.

The Foundation squad is the key starting point for both new members and new coaches to get their first experience of athletics or coaching athletics. It runs on Tuesday evenings from 6.00pm until 7.00pm and Sunday mornings from 11.00am.

New athletes will be able to gain fitness, basic technique and try all the events. Within the Foundation Squad we hope to have different ability groups to ensure that the transition to the next phase of the athletes training has had the correct preparation.

It will also be the starting point for all new coaches to gain experience in coaching. As an experienced coach you play a key role in mentoring and helping new coaches find their direction.
